Safety Actions Note Standard Response Protocol Video

LISD seeks to provide a collaborative and unified approach to safety and security in all schools and facilities. Security is always excessive until it is not enough. The safety of our students and staff must be our top priority. We have to work together to have safe schools - safety is everyone's responsibility.

Safety Actions

Here is a list of actions for everyone to take to secure campuses:

  • Keep traditional classroom doors closed and locked at all times.
  • Do not prop doors open.
  • Check doors to ensure they shut and latch behind you when you enter the building.
  • Enter and exit through main doors that are monitored.
  • First, an outside teacher should inspect the playground for harmful items and ensure that gates are locked.
  • When on duty outside, be spaced out, observant, and off personal devices.
  • Follow building protocols for after-hours access.
  • Wear your LISD badge at all times while inside any LISD building. Visitors must be signed in and wear a visitor badge.
  • If you see something suspicious or are concerned, act! Stay vigilant and observant. Seconds count.

Note

Convenience is the enemy of security. Please stay aware and observant at all times.

Standard Response Protocol

Looking to implement best and standardized practices for security, LISD utilizes the Standard Response Protocol (SRP). This protocol provides a standard uniform response to any given situation across all district facilities and events. SRP provides a specific standard vocabulary based on five actions:
